
Commemorating 40 Years Working with
People Experiencing Homelessness

In 1969 Dublin Simon Community was founded from a shed at the
back of Trinity College. Now, forty years later we are working with
over 2,000 people a year who are experiencing, or in danger of
experiencing homelessness. Celebrities, sportstars and volunteers
came out in numbers to support the launch of the 40th Anniversary.

Dublin Simon Community offers a continuum of care throughout the
stages of homelessness and works with over 2,000 people every
year in Dublin who are experiencing homelessness. Services
includes the soup run, Rough Sleeper Team Outreach, Emergency
Accommodation, Transitional and Supported housing, Addiction
Treatment Services, Tenancy Sustainment and Learning and
Development services.

Homelessness is not just about being without a home. It’s also
about a lack of security, lack of belonging, lack of privacy and lack
of safety. People sleeping out in doorways, parks, in derelict sites
and in abandoned cars experience the most extreme form of
homelessness.
